July 04 The broken feature?Someone may remember that one of the features that nVidia talked about during the NV40 (GeForce 6800) launch was a hardware tone mapping unit. But later it was missing in action. The public never see an API extension neither a demo of this feature. Today tone mapping is still done with a pixel shader program and the rumor mill says the feature was broken.
